About this video
A patient experienced significant bone loss due to chronic infection in a maxillary molar, which also compromised the right maxillary sinus. Treatment involved tooth extraction, debridement of infected tissue, sinus cleaning, and bone augmentation including ridge preservation and maxillary sinus augmentation. Despite the prior infection, sinus healing and bone regeneration were successfully achieved in a single procedure under local anesthesia. Six months later, implant placement and a connective tissue graft harvested via the trap door technique from the palate were performed, followed by implant uncovering six months post-implantation.

Ridge Preservation Following Removal of Infected Failed Implants, with Secondary Vertical Augmentation Using Autologous Onlay Bone Grafting (AOBG) in the Posterior Mandible
Ridge Preservation Following Removal of Infected Failed Implants, with Secondary Vertical Augmentation Using Autologous Onlay Bone Grafting (AOBG) in the Posterior Mandible

A comprehensive treatment approach for managing chronic infection and severe bone loss in the posterior mandible due to failed implants. The protocol includes immediate ridge preservation with xenograft material (GBR), followed by vertical augmentation using autologous onlay bone grafting, and a final stage of implant placement with connective tissue grafting.
